The metric shows the amount of different webbrowsers, that were used for the accesses.
It is determined basing on cookies. These are unique for each device/browser. In case of deactivated user centric tracking the metrics "Browsers, Unique" and "Visitors" are identical.
Depending on the analysis browsers are counted once or once per time interval (e.g. day, week, month).
- "Browsers, Unique" without trend
In analyses, that don't show a time trend, browsers are depicted uniquely.
A visitor accesses a page on 3 different days with his browser. In the page analysis the browser is only counted once.
- "Browsers, Unique" with trend
In analyses, that show a time trend (e.g. when using the dimension "Days"), browsers are counted uniquely per time unit.
A visitor accesses a page on 3 different days with his browser. In the day analysis the browser is counted on each day, the visitor accessed a page.
Information on cookie based tracking
If a users accesses a website, a cookie with an ID is set. Based on this cookie the users is recognized in future accesses. In case the user deletes the cookies or uses different devices/browsers a new cookie is set and the user is depicted as new "Browsers, Unique".
For users with deactivated cookies Webtrekk uses a so-called fingerprint method. The fingerprint is generated from the IP address and the user agent (contains e.g. browser, display resolution...).
